Valentine's Day Wreath Card

This is an art project aimed at younger kids. The Valentine's wreath is simple to make and can be decorated with pens, paint, stickers, etc - whatever your child enjoys doing best. As well as being a decoration, it can also be used as a Valentine's card.

You will need:

Paper
A pencil
Scissors
Embellishments

Take an A4 sheet of paper and fold up the bottom left corner so that it meets the top of the paper. It will make a triangle. Cut off the excess pape on the right hand side of the rectangle.
kids crafts

Fold the triangle in half.

Open it out again. You will have a crease down the centre of the triangle.

Turn the triangle around so it is pointing downwards.

Start to open out the left half of the triangle and then press it flat to form a diamond shape, as shown in the image on the left.

Turn the paper over and repeat the previous step.

Draw a heart shape on the paper as shown, then cut off the excess.

Open out the wreath - it will be made up from four hearts.

The next step is optional. Draw a smaller heart with its centre along the edge of one of the hearts. Carefully cut around half of the smaller heart - this means that when the Valentine's wreath card is in its folded position the smaller heart will 'pop out' at the side (see image below).

Put the wreath back into its folded position. Decorate or colour in the smaller heart. Write your Valentine's Day message.

Open out the wreath again and turn it over. Decorate it with pens, paint, sequins, etc - whatever you want.

You now have a Valentine's Day card which can also be displayed as a decoration.
