Bee Thumb Print Mother's Day Card
|
|
Finger painted cards are great as even really young children can make them. Parents may have to help with adding the details on with a pen and writing the message,
although slightly older children may want to do this themselves.
For this card you will need:
Card or paper
Black pen
Yellow paint
Wiggley eyes (optional)
• If you don't have any blank cards you can use a piece of paper folded in half (or doubled over and then folded in half to make a smaller card) or a piece of normal card folded.
• Pour out a little paint onto a paper plate or a piece of scrap cardboard.
• Ask your child to place their thumb in it and then make two thumb prints on the card. If they get too much paint on their thumb the result will be more a splodge than a thumb print. If this happens, have a piece of scrap paper to hand and
get them to make a print on this first before making finger prints on the card.
• Leave it to dry. This should only take a couple of minutes.
• Add details to the card in black pen - the wings, flowers, etc. Write 'Noone could bee a better mum...' at the bottom of the card and '...than you' on the inside. If you don't have great handwriting and want a slightly neater finish,
write the message on a computer, print it out, mount it on coloured paper to make a thin border and glue it to the front of the card.
• I've then glued wiggley eyes onto the bees, but if you don't have any you can just draw them on with the black pen. The eyes I used are smaller than the ones you typically find in the shops and were bought from a craft supplies website.
Another option for this card is for your child to finger paint the flowers, rather than drawing them.
