Curse of the Wererabbit pumpkin pattern template
The Curse of the Wererabbit pumpkin template was made specially for my eldest son, who is a huge fan of all things Aardman, particularly Wallace and Gromit!
You can see the finished results here and here. Apologies for the appalling photography skills!
Instructions for pumpkin carving
• Slice the top off the pumpkin to form a lid.
• Scoop out the seeds, strings and some of the fleshy part of the pumpkin.
• Take the printed pumpkin design and trim the excess from around the edges of the template. Fix it to the pumpkin with tape.
• Trace the pattern onto the pumpkin by poking a pin (or nail if it is a particularly large pumpkin) through the template. It will
take a while, but by the time you finished the pumpkin should resemble a 'join the dots' puzzle.
• Remove the template from the pumpkin.
• Cut into the pumpkin, using a suitable tool, following the line of the dots. Push the pieces out from the inside.
• Once you have finished carving the pumpkin, insert a pumpkin light or small candle placed on tin foil.
• If you are using a candle, light it, replace the lid and leave to sit for a couple of minutes. Remove the lid again and there should
be a smoke mark on it. Use a nail or appropriate pumpkin carving tool to make a vent where the smoke mark is visible.
